Fruit Stand

FRUIT EVERYWHERE!

This is the fruit stand in Sungei Wang Plaza, in a corner of the building that leads to some stairs that take you downstairs and across to Low Yat Plaza next door. It's like a secret fruit stand. Sort of.

I loved coming into the city as a kid, because it usually meant that we'd be going to Sungei Wang Plaza. It always full of stuff, everywhere you turn, more and more stuff would appear, spewing out of little shops.

Sungei Wang Plaza is looking pretty old now, but it used to be one of the first malls in the country. It's definitely not a swanky place, but you can find pretty much whatever you're after. And if you can't find it then it's probably next door, in Low Yat, where all the tech stuff is.

The fruit stand is great, I just like the pretty colours and how fresh everything looks. I usually come here when I'm feeling peckish on a shopping spree. This was where I got the papaya I mentioned in the 'That Place Under the Tree' post :)

The papayas are cut into long, almost cuboid pieces and come in those pink bags you can see on the right of the picture. Super sweet and juicy. MORE PAPAYAS, MORE!

They're just so nice to eat and remind me of being a kid :)

As you can see, they sell loads of other fruit as well. In the plastic containers, they had pineapples and dragonfruit. Mangoes and watermelons next to them. And on the sticks, from left to right: water chestnut, umbra, ciku, red/pink guava, jackfruit, and even more guava!

What's your favourite fruit off the fruit stand?
